Why we ranked them
Why we chose HM Design & Photography
HM Design & Photography operates out of a downtown Coeur d'Alene studio, giving newborn families a middle ground between a fully outdoor session and a strict in-home visit. Photographer Heidi built the business around North Idaho's family market, and newborn portraits sit alongside her maternity, senior, and even school and sports photography work, which means she's spent years learning how to keep a shoot calm when a baby (or a nervous toddler sibling) isn't cooperating. Sessions lean relaxed and unforced rather than heavily posed, with soft studio lighting used to smooth out the harsh overhead light that a lot of home nurseries struggle with in winter. Clients can also access proofs and full galleries through an online ShootProof system, which makes it easier for extended family to order prints without going through the parents. HM Design serves Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, and the wider North Idaho region, and the studio setting is worth considering for families who'd rather not tidy a house for a home session or who want a consistent, controlled backdrop for portraits that will hang on a wall. The business has built a long track record in the local family photography market, and newborn sessions get the same attention to detail as her more established senior and family portrait work.
