Why we ranked them

Why we chose Houle Photography

Sophia Houle runs Houle Photography right in Kennebunkport, and she's upfront on her own site about where she is in her career: a photographer who's just starting out rather than someone positioning herself as a decades-deep veteran. That honesty carries through to her pricing, which starts as low as $35 for entry-level sessions — a real option for families who want newborn photos without committing to a premium package before they know if the style is right for them. Newborn sessions sit alongside a wider range of milestone work, including graduation, prom, and other celebration photography, so she's built a practice around meeting families at whatever life stage they're in rather than narrowing to one specialty. Packages are customizable, with room for outfit changes and multiple locations within a single booking, which gives a newborn session more flexibility than a fixed studio-only format. Being based directly in Kennebunkport means no travel fees or scheduling around a photographer's drive time from another town — a real advantage for a newborn session, where timing within the first couple of weeks matters more than almost anything else. For families who want a personal, still-growing local photographer over an established studio with a set formula, that combination of local presence and low barrier to entry is the pitch.
