Sammi runs Sun Spirit Photography from just outside Dover, and her path into newborn work started from an unusually personal place — after losing her older brother Ryan in 2019, family photography took on a different weight for her, and that history is literally built into her logo, drawn from a candid image she shot before she understood how much it would come to mean. That grounding shows up in an unfussy, lifestyle-first style: warm, neutral tones and real in-between moments over stiffly arranged poses. Her Early Childhood Education background feeds directly into newborn sessions, giving her a practical read on how to keep a days-old baby calm and settled without forcing a shot. The recognition has followed the work — she was named Best Photographer in the November 2025 Community Choice Awards, and Photograph(her) Magazine ran a ten-page feature on her in its Fall 2024 Beautiful Chaos edition. Her portfolio has also appeared in themed features including Sibling Love Volume 2, a Light and Airy edition, and a Milk Bath edition, the last of which is a newborn-specific style requiring its own particular comfort with water safety and gentle posing. Sammi keeps her business centered on the Dover Seacoast area she calls home rather than spreading thin across a wide multi-town territory, traveling to local homes and spots for sessions rather than working from a fixed studio.
